"Be Better, Do More"

— 2ndGear Studios

We are assembling a high-agency team for ambitious original projects. These are hands-on positions: titles indicate responsibility, not distance from the work.

The following positions are early expressions of interest. Engagement structure and location arrangements will be discussed with selected candidates.

Lead Game Engineer — Unreal Engine / C++

Help architect and build an original Unreal Engine title from the ground up. You will write production C++, own major gameplay and technical systems, establish engineering standards, and remain directly involved in implementation as the team grows.

What matters

  • Deep Unreal Engine and modern C++ experience
  • Strong systems architecture, debugging, profiling, and optimization ability
  • Experience with multiplayer, networking, simulation, tools, or similarly complex game systems
  • A shipped title or exceptional demonstrable work
  • High ownership and ability to work directly with a small team
  • Sound judgment about where AI-assisted development materially improves the work

Lead Producer — Game Development

Own day-to-day production across an original Unreal Engine title. You will translate creative and technical goals into clear plans, coordinate a small cross-disciplinary team, manage schedules and risks, and keep development moving from prototype through launch.

What matters

  • Experience producing a shipped PC or console title
  • Strong planning, prioritization, milestone, and risk-management ability
  • Excellent communication across engineering, art, design, QA, and external partners
  • High ownership and sound judgment within a small, fast-moving team
  • Ability to identify blockers early and turn ambiguity into clear next steps
  • Practical understanding of AI-assisted production tools and workflows

Technical Art Director — Hands-on

Set the visual and technical standard while personally executing key work. This is not a review-only management position. You will translate art direction into practical production systems, personally refine important visual work, and bridge art and engineering.

What matters

  • A strong real-time art or technical-art portfolio
  • Unreal Engine 5 experience
  • Materials, shaders, lighting, environments, optimization, and pipeline development
  • Excellent visual judgment combined with hands-on execution
  • Ability to create the quality bar and help future artists reach it
  • Experience evaluating and using AI-assisted tools without surrendering authorship, consistency, or quality control
